FAQs

GENERAL

What is LobbitUp?

LobbitUp is a patent pending crowd funding website for organizations and people that want to raise funds for more than one cause in a single campaign.

How does LobbitUp work?

Once a campaign organizer has listed two or more causes in a campaign, the causes will compete for a bonus payout. The more pledges a cause receives, the higher the chances for a bigger bonus payout. For more details, click How it Works in the navigation bar.

Why LobbitUp?

LobbitUp is the only crowd funding site where multiple causes compete in a single campaign for a bonus payout. There is no minimum amount you need to raise and no required fundraising goal. And you keep the money you raise!

Who can raise funds?

Anyone can raise funds with LobbitUp! Schools, PTAs, sports clubs, philanthropic/nonprofit organizations, and even individuals, so long as you have more than one cause.

Who can donate?

Anyone 18 years or older can donate to a LobbitUp fundraising campaign. All you need is a valid credit or debit card. However, campaign organizers cannot donate in a campaign they create, nor can causes contribute to themselves.

Do I have to buy software to use LobbitUp?

No, you don't need to buy software, and creating your campaign is free!

Is LobbitUp gambling?

Absolutely not. All funds from the donors go to the causes in the campaign, and campaign organizers and causes cannot donate to their own campaign or causes.

What is the difference between competitive and non-competitive?

We provide fundraisers the flexibility of adding a gamification to our fundraising model by allowing causes to compete for a lion share of total funds received in a campaign.

In competitive campaigns, causes compete for first place and bonus payouts. Place ranking is based on the amount of funds pledged to each cause. The cause with the most pledges ranks first, the cause with the second-most pledges ranks second, and so on. In addition, funds from lower ranking causes are leveraged to award higher performing top ranking causes a bonus payout (more funds). In competitive mode, all funds donated to a particular cause are not guaranteed to be paid out to that cause. But since in our competitions everyone wins, there are no losers because all funds received in a campaign ultimately go to the fundraising organization.

In non-competitive campaigns, all funds donated to a particular cause go directly to that cause. There is no leveraging of funds from other causes and no bonus payouts.

Before launching your campaign, find out what causes are most favorable to compete with one another. Can I share my campaign with friends?

Are there any fees for LobbitUp?

Yes. As all other crowd funding websites, we charge a service fee to keep LobbitUp running. During our promotional period, our service fee is 4%, and after that 5.9%, which will more than pay for itself because the majority of donors will come back to give more. Also, our payment processor, WePay, will charge the typical card fee of 2.9% plus 30 cents per donation.

Can I raise funds on LobbitUp from outside of the U.S.?

Yes, in addition to the U.S., you can also raise funds from the UK.

What is competitive fundraising?

If you want to add some excitement to your fundraising campaign, you may want to select the competitive option. Many organizations have found fundraising competitions to increase total donations in a campaign.

If your donors care more about an exciting, more immersive fundraising experience, than to which cause their pledges go, you may want to give the competitive mode a try.

What is non-competitive fundraising?

If your donors care more about having their pledges allocated to their chosen cause rather than some added excitement in a fundraising event, you may want to select non-competitive mode.

In non-competitive campaigns, all funds donated to a particular cause go directly to that cause. There is no leveraging of funds from other causes and no bonus payouts.
